Information On How To Reduce Clutter

Most of us could benefit from enhancing our organization but getting organized can be difficult. Belongings can clutter the tables, closets, and even the floors. Being able to determine which items need to be thrown out and what should stay is an important part of how to organize your home.

Successfully reducing clutter can be simple if you have a system to help you organize as you go. The closet is one of the biggest problems for many people since it is where we tend to put things to “store” them. The first step to de-cluttering is in getting rid of anything you haven’t worn in the last year. Determine which things are marked to be thrown out or given away as well as those that need to be organized. Once you have everything out of your closet and sorted, it’s time to determine the best way to maximize the space you have available. You can add shelves or shoe cabinets for numerous pairs of shoes and bins to place on shelves for accessories like belts and scarves. Stackable drawers are another option if you don’t have enough room in your dresser for all of your folded clothing.

If you have things stuffed under your bed until it is sticking out each side, then you will need to de-clutter this area as well. Hopefully, once you have organized your closet, you will have enough room for everything that has flowed over into other areas. If not, underbed storage bins are available that have wheels on them to make them easily accessible. You can also get drawers that will go under your bed to provide you with more drawer space for storage.

Space bags are another alternative for storing items that are seasonal or bedding that can be bulky and take up a lot of room. Just place the items in the bags and use the vacuum to suck the air out and they become much more convenient to store.

The key to being successful in de-cluttering is in getting rid of those items that you don’t use or need rather than putting them someplace else. Shifting clutter from spot to spot is only going to lead to more clutter and the problem of not being organized will not be solved. You need to make a strong effort to eliminate as many items as possible and then organize what you have left so that you will have all the room you need and be able to find the items you are looking for without a major search effort.

If you have still not gotten rid of much of your clutter when you go through your belongings, go through them again with a more critical eye. Don’t keep items that you don’t want or need just because they were a gift and you feel guilty about giving them up. There is no purpose to keeping garments that have gone out of style, either. Imagine how nice your home is going to look once you have de-cluttered every room and organized your life. Stay focused on your end-goal and don’t stop until you get the results you are after!
